5th July 2013

I’m back on the road today with eye and knee mended and bike performing well. The route from Roncesvalles to Elizondo was absofuckinglutely gorgeous. It was just like England should be, and it was warm, so I had all the smells and sounds of a warm summer day. Rolling hills, songbirds, fields full of hay, with the smell of fresh cut grass and silage drying in the sun.

Just to reassure my more sensitive readers, the horses in the pic above are not dead. It’s just so hot and they have zero predators, that they prefer to sleep in the fields. I know how they feel.

I went part way into France on this route, and the descent back into Spain from the Col d’Elhorrieta was brill – fast and exciting but without excessive risk of imminent death.

This is my blog of my trip around Spain, off road, on my mountain bike. The story is told in full in my book "Three Wheels on my Bicycle", available on Amazon in Kindle or hardback.
